Data Collection Module Series A (DCM)

The Data Collection Module (shown with environmental control module on top) converts, stores, and transmits analog data into digital data streams.  It is a 60 channel device capable of 40,000 samples per second at 16 bit resolution.  It can operate on external power continuously or on internal power (rechargeable) for 45 minutes.  Accurate time synchronization is available via GPS.  Data can be stored internally or can be transmitted to a remote collection point via Ethernet.  The Data Collection Module is 6" X 3" X 3" without the environmental cooler, which adds an additional inch in height (6" X 3" X 4").

The environmental cooler is completely sealed.  It is capable of maintaining the steady state temperature of the electronics 25F above ambient temperature, indefinitely.  32 temperature sensors monitor the condition of the electronics and automatically compensate for changes throughout the data collection cycle.

The Data Collection Module was originally designed to fit in the chest cavities of crash dummies without the environmental cooler.  In that capacity the Data Collection Module is capable of operating for 20 minutes before temperature conditions cause the module to shut down.
