BLU-BIRD

The BLU-BIRD OBR (Ballistics Logging Unit - Basic Information Recording Device On Board Recorder) is an on-board recording system built on Syntronics’ Ballistics Logging Unit electronics suite. BLU-BIRD is fast, compact, and extremely versatile. The included Windows software downloads and converts the data into standard formats and clears memory as well as selecting the active channels, sampling rate, and record time.
 
BLU-BIRD is not a single use data recorder. Provided that it is mechanically protected by the airframe upon which it rides, BLU-BIRD can be recovered, the data read, and then the memory erased. With a re-charged battery pack, its ready to go again. Some users have supported more than a dozen tests with a single BLU-BIRD.

Currently, there are four configurations, Standard, High Speed, Fixed Input, and MOFA.

The BLU-BIRD Standard contains 12 analog data channels which can be programmed at the factory at the time of assembly for up to 100 volt inputs. Channel selection, sample rate, and record time is set by the User with the included software and can be changed as needed.

The BLU-BIRD High Speed contains 6 analog data channels sampled at up to 300 kHz simultaneously. Channel selection, channel gain, sample rate, and record time is set by the User with the included software and can be changed as needed. The maximum analog input voltage is 5 volts.

The BLU-BIRD Fixed Input is similar to the BLU-BIRD Standard except that the 12 input channels have a fixed 0 to 5 volt input range. Channel selection, sample rate, and record time is set by the User with the included software and can be changed as needed.

BLU-BIRD MOFA is the smallest BLU-BIRD OBR. It is sized to mate with and run from a MOFA battery. BLU-BIRD MOFA has eight analog channels programmed at the factory at the time of assembly for up to 100 volt inputs. Channel selection, sample rate, and record time is set by the User with the included software and can be changed as needed.

BLU-BIRD Standard, BLU-BIRD High Speed, and BLUE BIRD Fixed Input come with one rechargeable battery pack which will power the BLU-BIRD for up to 1 hour. Larger battery packs for longer run time or non-rechargeable battery packs for very high G applications are available on request at no additional charge.
